Jungle Queen Butterfly

Inspired by the Jungle Queen Butterfly, scientific name Stichophthalma cambodia, this hanging was cut from wispy white stained glass, then hand-painted and fired to an enamel finish. Care was taken to replicate the butterfly's wing patterns as faithfully as possible, including the veining and fuzzy texture of the wings.

The Jungle Queen Butterfly is found in Cambodia, Thailand and Indochina.

Two discreet copper loops are attached to the top of the wings and then connected by a copper chain for hanging.

Each butterfly, like those in nature, is completely unique.
